MEET THE TEAM

DR. AMR METWALI, MS, CSCS

OWNER I CHIROPRACTOR

  • My name is Amr Metwali, DC. I am a rehab chiropractor providing patient-centered treatment focused around movement. My passion for health and wellness started while growing up in Iowa, where I played competitive club soccer.

My introduction to strength & conditioning came during high school to supplement club soccer. Initially, I had negative experiences during training and struggled to perform exercises as coached. Commonly when squats were programmed, I could not keep my foot on the floor and often blamed my “bad knees" as the culprit, instead of addressing the issue. I did not prioritize or value the importance of training, resulting in more frequently dealing with injury.

    JOURNEY INTO HEALTH AND FITNESS

My journey into health and fitness started while attending Iowa State University and playing for their club soccer team. Every season was a continuous circle of injury, rehabilitation and re-injuring the same or similar area.

The frustration of rehabilitation changed my perception of training, and its role in aiding athletic performance. I started taking exercise science courses and reading every possible book or article about training for optimal performance.

My goal transitioned from preventing my own injuries to guiding others on evidence-based training and injury reduction strategies.

I started working as a personal trainer and interning in collegiate strength & conditioning, working with division I wrestling, swimming & diving athletes.

After graduating from Iowa state with an exercise science degree, there was still a gap knowledge best help clients. I pursued a master’s degree in Kinesiology in 2018 from Southern Illinois University, with coursework in Sport Psychology, Exercise Physiology & Nutrition.

  • During graduate school, I competed in local and regional powerlifting meets, leading to several frustrating injuries. After having chronic pain powerlifting, I sought out care from a rehab and manual therapy based chiropractor which introduced me to a different type of chiropractic care.

The results I saw from this type of care led me to the learning more about chiropractic. In 2018, I enrolled at Southern California University of Health Sciences, with an emphasis in sports medicine.

My goal was to understand anatomy and biomechanics to educate future patients on movement strategies for optimal performance.

During chiropractic school, I recognized the importance of continuing education outside the curriculum to best serve my future patients. The more education I pursued, the more questions I had. By the time my doctorate was completed, I attended near 1,000 hours of coursework surrounding active rehabilitation and manual therapy.

My treatment style is a mesh of my various continuing education courses, experiences in sports medicine clinics, and clubs. My treatment is heavily influenced from the rehabilitation club on campus (Rehab 2 Performance), where I eventually led the club, educating other students on evidence-based rehabilitation strategies.

  • MOVEMENT FOR RESILIENCY

My treatment approach is centered on the idea MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE to create RESILIENCY for a safe return to activity.

By identifying and educating about pain-free movement options during treatment, we create a positive initial movement experience. Patients leave our office empowered and confident.

We create a long-term strategy for performing their favorite activities again.

    HOW MY APPROACH IS DIFFERENT

AN INDIVIDUALIZED APPROACH CENTERED AROUND MOVEMENT.

My approach is unconventional to normal chiropractic care, and provides MORE THAN A QUICK ADJUSTMENT. I seek to understand the entire individual and TARGET THE ROOT CAUSE of pain, NOT JUST CURRENT SYMPTOMS.

We create an entry-point to what tolerable movement current is and create a long-term game plan. By identifying movement options to perform outside the office, patients take an active role in their rehabilitation process, and take back control of their health.
